This project uses gardening and creative outdoor activities to support people’s health, wellbeing, and sense of community. It focuses on improving mental health by providing calm, therapeutic spaces where people can reduce stress, build confidence, and feel supported. By creating an inclusive and welcoming environment, the project helps reduce loneliness and social isolation, giving people opportunities to meet others, form friendships, and take part in shared activities.
The project also encourages physical health through gentle, accessible activities such as gardening and practical outdoor tasks, helping people to stay active in a positive and manageable way. Alongside this, it supports food security and healthy eating by growing and sharing fresh produce, tackling food poverty, and running activities such as Family Food Safaris and community gardening sessions. Learners, volunteers, and students benefit from meaningful learning, skill building, and volunteering opportunities that increase confidence, purpose, and connection to the community. In the long term, the project aims to strengthen community resilience by creating a sustainable, community led space, while also demonstrating a creative, evidence based approach to health and wellbeing that can be replicated in other areas.
