Pendle Borough Council Engineers

The scheme includes improvements to the route from Nelson & Colne College to Scotland Road. The route links to Scotland Road which is the start of the new Accessible Nelson scheme. Works will include solar lighting to the pathways, improved subdued lighting in the 3 underpasses, painting the underpasses bright white, cutting back shrubs and trees that currently make the route feel dark, lighting up some trees and adding wildflowers and art work done by the Nelson and Colne College Students to the green spaces along the route.

Art and horticultural students from the college will be asked to help with the long term maintenance thereby giving them a sense of ownership. The overall aim being to make the route feel more attractive, cared for and ultimately safer during the winter months, especially for women and girls.
